Help
  • Administers and supervises work under the contracts, reviews and accepts completed work and evaluates contractor performance upon completion with full and final technical responsibility for contract work.
  • You will ensure standardization of methods, procedures, and QA review of all A-E performed Surveys.
  • You will have final responsibility for accuracy and adequacy of surveys assigned to the District.
  • You will be responsible for various types of surveys to include land, boundary, engineering, geodetic, cartographic, topographic, hydrographic, and ultra-precise alignment surveys.
  • You will serve as Mapping Unit project coordinator in Project Management Business Process (PMBP) teams for large and diversified projects.
  • Responsible for independently scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the work of subordinate participating Section employees.
  • You will coordinate field mapping activities and related functions with other Districts and county, state, and federal agencies.
  • You will prepare scope of work, writes technical specifications, prepares government estimate, and actively participates in contract negotiations.
  • You will administer and supervise work under the contracts, reviews and accepts completed work and evaluates contractor performance upon completion with full and final technical responsibility for contract work.

  • Must possess and/or be able to obtain within 1 year of start date and maintain a current registration as a as a Professional Land Surveyor in a State, Territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination.
  • Position requires a pre-employment and periodic physical examination and/or evaluation under the District Medical Surveillance Program.
  • Must possess, or ability to acquire, and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 40% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Education Requirement for Land Surveyor: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in land surveying; or civil engineering with a surveying option/emphasis. The civil engineering major must have included at least 6 semester hours of surveying, 3 semester hours of land law, and 21 additional semester hours in any combination of the following: surveying, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geodesy, route surveying, remote sensing, cartography, survey astronomy, land information systems, computer-aided mapping, aerial photo interpretation, and survey analysis and adjustments.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering, as described in paragraph A, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Registration: The basic requirements for this series may be fully satisfied by a current registration as a land surveyor in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination. Such registration must have been obtained under conditions outlined in the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEE) Unified Model Law for Registration of Surveyors. Applicants wishing to be considered under this provision must show evidence of registration based on successful completion of the written examinations. Registrations granted prior to adoption of a registration law with qualification requirements equivalent to the NCEE Model Law by the State, territory, or District of Columbia are not acceptable under this option. To be considered equivalent to the NCEE Model law, registration laws must include the four options listed within the NCEE Unified Model Law in the section specifying "General Requirements for Registration" as a Professional Land Surveyor.

In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized experience is defined as: one year of specialized experience providing professional, technical, and administrative expertise for surveying, GIS, and mapping activities; supporting all types of field surveys including land, boundary, engineering, geodetic, cartographic, topographic, hydrographic, and ultra-precise alignment surveys etc.; provides GIS support to include survey data integration, contractor QA. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
